What is this?

Hey there! Emily here. I’ve run a practice [The Injury RD] that helps people use food as a tool through their injuries since 2022. Feed the Quad is a group program geared toward ACL recovery that I’m now bringing to life on Substack.

Here’s what I see over and over again.

  • You need targeted nutrition to build a strong knee.

  • You’ve been told what foods to avoid, but feel confused about what you’re actually supposed to eat and how much.

  • You’re super nervous about how this injury will impact your body. You’re not moving as much as normal, so does that mean you should eat less? Or… whatever, screw it… you’ll figure it out later.

Feed the Quad is still a group program.

I’m just making it more accessible to you when you need it.

The full program is 6-weeks of themed materials (think digestible 5-minute info snippets, myth-busting Q&As, suggestions for what’s important to focus on, and all the menus, meals, and examples you could ask for alongside community support and 1:1 work with me.

You can find more details and what others have said about the program here.

This Substack gives you access to those resources when you need them, so no more waiting for group start dates, and it lets you scroll through the archive to find the answers that make sense for you.

Tiered access helps you opt-in to the level of support you need.

Who’s it for?

I like to give the nitty gritty nutrition advice, but I’m also SUPER cognizant of the mental toll injuries can take. If your injury has made your inner critic a little louder than normal, makes you super anxious about how your body might change, or has you feeling “out of control” around food, this is specifically designed for you.

My goal is to help your rehab become a springboard for a fantastic relationship with the food you eat and the body you live in. That means no more mental spirals after trying on jeans in the dressing room. No more guilt after eating a food your coach said was “bad for you”. No more counting calories or endlessly thinking about what you’re “supposed to do”.

Any athlete or active individual and any injury or phase of recovery is welcome.

Why is it worth paying for?

Listen. If you go to the library to look for a specific book, I know you know how to figure out the Dewey Decimal System and find that book. But it’s kinda nice to just ask the librarian to point you in the right direction… right?

Subscribing lets me point you in the right direction. And isn’t that a breath of fresh air?

You’ll get access to

  • Friday’s grocery lists and menu’s for the following week so you don’t have to plan anything.

  • The Plate Guide so you know how to build a plate that has what you need without counting calories.

  • Themes and “food for thought”’s of the week so you don’t have to try to focus on 100 different things, just one simple thing.

  • The Group Chat. Community is pretty cool at a time like this.

Last but not least, become a 1:1 subscriber and you’ll get personal check-ins with me (Emily).
